My original mediterranean garden had to mostly be removed during my towns sewer installation process. Some of the plants died, a handful remained, some were moved to another bed, and some went back in containers to await a future garden. In their place I put in mostly California natives. With an emphasis on local plants that I knew would do well in our sandy soil (since the construction turned under my nice compost and brought up a bunch of Los Osos sand).
