California Native Shrub Garden

I added a new California native shrub garden in my side yard in the fall of 2013 (with a few Australian natives too because I had them on hand and wanted to use them). The soil is sandy and was not amended though the garden will be mulched. Mostly to keep down the grasses, Erodiums, and other weeds that pop up here.

The idea for this garden is that once established it should need little or no water at all so when I move out it is low maintenance.

The following link should lead you to an inventory of the garden. With the exception of the Fremontedendron, which was in a 5 gallon pot, the rest of the garden was either 1 gallon or 4″ pots to keep the cost of the garden down. They should grow and fill in fairly quickly.
